Sorry for posting so much music, but this is just outstanding. I am really obsessed with this. There is just such emotion in her voice, in her phrasing, in her consonants (the crispness of P’s and hard C’s, and especially the smoothness of W’s), the vibrato she uses at the end of held notes, the slight delay she puts before some notes. The leaps are so incredibly precise and weigh so heavily in the best possible way. From the very first note, as clear as a bell being rung right next to your ears, I knew this was special. The B section starts, and you think “this is lame,” and then that chord on the second syllable of “exists” just comes out of nowhere and smacks you SO hard across the face.
UGH. I JUST LOVE THIS GROUP.
I am so happy.
oh man..this makes me miss singing with a group! and wants to make me get back in the studio and record and arrange some awesome music!
Ok let me talk about how awesome this old school sci fi show is!!!
So they hit on subject matters that are contrversal even to today standards!
its a show, for those of you who dont know, where a man in the “future” lol 1999 discovers time travels and he tested without anyone knowing, now he “leaps” or time travels into people’s bodies and helps them with their life, all while figuring out who he is! This guy has like 6 Phd’s and can get like everyone woman he talks to to fall in love with him haha but yeah…
Ok so one episode is where he is black guy in the beginning of the Civil Rights era, another he is a gay man in a military academy, another where he is Lee Harvey Oswald in the JFK assassination!
but this recent one I was watching got me thinking, he leaped into a 26 year old male who lost both of his legs in the Vietnam war. So he is in a hospital trying to recover and this whole time his “wife” if you can call her that, is having a hard time dealing with him, and she ends up leaving him, she meet someone knew while he was over there, because she scared he would not come back, and also cuz he lost his legs. Even though they don’t say they, Sam, the main character, ask, “would it be any different if..you know if…?” and he just points as his legs as he sits in his wheelchair at the bar they went to for dinner.
She replies, “I dont know…”
those words…oh those words hold a special place in my heart since that is all she would say to me when I asked her questions about us lol its ok though I understand, well not understand more accept, why she said that.
but you go through the episode and he has a roommate, who is black, and lost all feeling to his body. the real story is about him.
towards the beginning of the episode you see him yell at his girlfriend, I believe, and he runs her off, by saying hateful things, and feeling sorry for himself. where you hear Sam’s friend, that only he can see, say, "its a lot easier to kill yourself when no one cares for you."
SAY WHAT!?!?!?! did a show made in the early 90’s late 80’s just say that!! DAMN!
and at the end when Sam wheels himself over to the pool where his roommate is about to drown himself, he got a motorized wheel chair, he uses reverse psychology and tells him to do it, the only way to stop the screams is do kill yourself.
so the guy crying, tells Sam about how he was an All-State half back in high school, how he would go on these hikes with his girlfriend to a cabin that no one could get to and spend weeks with her.
And he does it.
after about a min, Sam arguing with his friend that only he can see, about how he is the only one who can save himself, dives in, and saves him.
The black roommate comes up gasping for air, saying, “help me, help me!”
this show is soo good, and I’m usually a person up for remakes, cuz the things we can do now are so much more impressive then back then, but the story telling and acting is just too good to do that.
if we did that now, we would only ruin it.
I would be up for new stories though, that would be cool, maybe some new characters and such, but sticking with the same theme and dealing with some more issues of our time, even though back then they were doing really well!
ok that is all, I love that show!
K hope all it well and thanks for reading this poorly written…POS!
“The (500) Days of Summer attitude of “He wants you so bad” seems attractive to some women and men, especially younger ones, but I would encourage anyone who has a crush on my character to watch it again and examine how selfish he is. He develops a mildly delusional obsession over a girl onto whom he projects all these fantasies. He thinks she’ll give his life meaning because he doesn’t care about much else going on in his life. A lot of boys and girls think their lives will have meaning if they find a partner who wants nothing else in life but them. That’s not healthy. That’s falling in love with the idea of a person, not the actual person.”—Joseph Gordon-Levitt (x)
